Efling – union invites you to an open meeting to present a report by Stefán Ólafsson and Indriði H. Þorláksson, A fair tax load – how the great tax transfer can be reversed without weakening the welfare system.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 7, from 8:30 to 10:00am at Grand Hotel Reykjavík.

The report is written at the request of Efling – union. In it, the main causes and consequences of changes in direct taxation are explained. Proposals are presented for reform that would improve the condition of people on low wages.
In the report, a reform proposal is presented to achieve a fairer and more efficient tax system in Iceland. The ideas aim at reversing the shift in tax burden onto those on lower wages, allowing for a reduction in tax of at least 20 thousand ISK per month.
