Employees on the general labor market

  • On 1 May wages and salary related payments increase by 3%
  • Minimum wage for a full time job, 173,33 hours per month (40 hours per week) for 18-year-old and older after 6 months at the same company (although minimum 900 hours) shall be 300.000 kr. from 1 May 2018.
  • Employees receive 48.000 kr. holiday bonus on June 1, based on full time employment.
  • Employees receive 89.000 kr. December bonus no later than 15 December, based on full time employment.
  • The contribution of employers to the pension fund increases to 11.5% on 1 July 2018.

 

 

Employees of Reykjavík city

  • On 1 June wage rate increase by 3%
  • From 1 January 2018 there was a 1,4% additional wage rate increase because of wage development insurance. According to the framework agreement by the members of the labor market about the collective wage policy from 27 October 2015 it was agreed on that those who are employed by state and municipalities shall be compensated for the wage drift that will occur in the general labor market beyond what may be in the public labor market.
  • Minimum wage for a full-time work, 173,33 hours per month (40 hours per week) for 18-year-old and older after working for 4 consecutive months for Reykjavík city shall be 300.000 kr. from 1 June 2018.
  • Employees receive 48.000 kr. holiday bonus on 1 June, based on full time employment.
  • Employees receive 97.100 kr. December bonus on 1 December, based on full time employment.

 

Employees of municipalities other than Reykjavík city

  • On 1 June wage rate increase by 3%.
  • From 1 January 2018 there was a 1,4% additional wage rate increase because of wage development insurance. According to the framework agreement by the members of the labor market about the collective wage policy from 27 October 2015 it was agreed on that those who are employed by state and municipalities shall be compensated for the wage drift that will occur in the general labor market beyond what may be in the public labor market.
  • Minimum wage for a full-time work, 173,33 hours per month (40 hours per week) for 18-year-old and older after working for 4 consecutive months for the same municipality shall be 300.000 kr. from 1 June 2018.
  • Employees receive 48.000 kr. holiday bonus on 1 May, based on full time employment.
  • Employees receive 113.000 kr. December bonus on 1 December, based on full time employment.

 

Employees of state/nursing homes

  • On 1 June wage rate increase by 3%.
  • From 1 January 2018 there was a 0,5% additional wage rate increase because of wage development insurance. According to the framework agreement by the members of the labor market about the collective wage policy from 27 October 2015 it was agreed on that those who are employed by state and municipalities shall be compensated for the wage drift that will occur in the general labor market beyond what may be in the public labor market.
  • Wage rates were also raised retroactively from 1 January 2017 because of wage development insurance for the time period 2013-2016. Thus, the supplement because of age was eliminated and wage rates increased by 1%.
  • Minimum wage for a full-time work, 173,33 hours per month (40 hours per week) for 18-year-old and older after working for 4 consecutive months for the same institution shall be 300.000 kr. from 1 June 2018.
  • Employees receive 48.000 kr. Holiday bonus on 1 June, based on full time employment.
  • Employees receive 89.000 kr. December bonus on 1 December, based on full time employment.

 

 

Seamen

  • On 1 May 2018 seamen’s salary guarantee shall be 310.170 kr., salary guarantee for the cook, first and second marine engineer, engine attendant, boatswain and netman shall be 387.713 kr. and chief engineer officer’ shall be 465.255 kr. Wage related payments, other than supplement because of period of employment and hourly pay, increase by 3%. Monthly wage of an assistance in the kitchen on freezer trawlers shall be 353.402 kr.
