A new cleaner’s bonus, agreed upon in collective agreements in the general market this spring, came into force at the beginning of the month. This means that when the salary for August is paid at the beginning of September, cleaners shall receive a special additional payment. Efling members who work in cleaning are encouraged to keep a close eye on their payslips at the next payment of wages and ensure that the bonus has been paid.
The cleaner’s bonus must be paid monthly and for full-time work, which is 19,500 ISK. The cleaner’s bonus is calculated proportionately to the employment rate, but is not part of the basic salary and therefore does not increase hourly wages, shift bonuses, or overtime pay.
As mentioned earlier, the special cleaner’s bonus is to be paid out for the first time at the end of the month. The amount will appear as a separate line on the payslip, so it should be easy for Efling members to verify that they have received the bonus when the salary for August is paid out.
