A graduate studies course in Social assistance regarding disabilities and mental disorders will start on September 11 at Mímir and last until the beginning of December. This course is for members at Efling and is intended to increase insight into the needs and situations of individuals with different impairments that lead to disability. Efling members who have the necessary foundation are encouraged to apply for the program, which is free of charge.
More information can be found here. You can register for the program here, on Mímis’s page, and the staff there will answer further questions about the program.
Courses for Care Workers also starting
The vocational courses Care Workers I and Care Workers II will also be taught at Mímir this winter. The first day of classes for Care Workers I is October 1, while Care Workers II begins September 30. Both courses end on December 11. The first course must be completed to continue on the second, but the courses are a precursor to learning about the Social Assistance Portal, which has already been presented here on the Efling page.
Care Workers I and II are courses aimed at those Efling members who assist, and/or care for the sick, disabled, and elderly in private homes or institutions and for workers who assist clients with shopping, cleaning, and personal care. Efling’s vocational funds pay the course fees in full for members who work for public employers. Efling members are encouraged to apply and thus improve their knowledge. Applications are made on the Mímir website and the Mímir staff provides further information if needed.
