Happy Commerce Weekend

Efling Union wishes its members and their families a happy Commerce Weekend (Verslunarmannahelgi). The Union further reminds members that next Monday, August 5, is Commerce Day and according to collective agreements, it is a special holiday.

If an employee has been agreed to perform regular work duties on all working days, he is entitled to leave on special holidays when they fall on a working day, such as a Commerce Day, without the regular salary being reduced.

All extra work on special holidays must be paid with overtime, but other rules may apply to shift workers. Overtime pay is 80% higher than daily pay, or 1.0385% of the monthly salary for daily work.

Efling members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the regulations that apply to wage payments if they will be at work next Monday. Members are also urged to carefully review their payslips at the next payment and ensure their wages have been paid correctly.

Eflings office will be closed as usual on the Commerce Day, next Monday. The office will be open again on Tuesday 6th August according to the office’s summer opening hours at 10:00.

The Commerce Weekend is one of the biggest travel weekends of the year. Undoubtedly, some members of Efling will be on the road this weekend, and the Union encourages them to be careful in the traffic and enjoy the weekend.
