AFL Trade Union in the Eastfjords condemns all attempts by employers to form their own unions and force workers to join them. “The union’s [Virðing] so-called collective agreement clearly shows that the representatives of the employers sat around the table and negotiated among themselves what terms they intended to offer their employees,” says the AFL statement, which expresses full support for Efling’s struggle.
Statement on the fake union Virðing
AFL East Iceland Trade Union condemns all attempts by employers to form their own unions and force workers to join them. The fake union Virðing is a clear example of social dumping and abuse by employers. The union’s so-called collective agreement clearly shows that the representatives of the employers sat around the table and negotiated among themselves what terms they intended to offer employees.
AFL Trade Union expresses full support for Efling’s fight with this employer organization in the capital area and Eining-Iðja’s fight with the same organization in the Eyjafjörður area.
AFL will closely monitor the situation in the restaurant and guesthouse environment in its own area and take tough action if this fake organization arrives in the area.
