The VR board has issued a resolution condemning the attack by employers within SVEIT, an association of companies in the catering sector, on the rights and conditions of workers. Virðing is a yellow union founded by SVEIT and the so-called collective agreement between them involves direct wage cuts.
The VR board wholeheartedly supports Efling and SGS’s criticism of SVEIT and the encouragement to boycott the association in the resolution. “In the opinion of the VR board, the behavior of Virðing and SVEIT is an outrageous attack on the rights of workers and marks a setback in the wage struggle. The VR board encourages workers and employers to reject this attack. Solidarity in the labor market is important when it comes to protecting the fundamental rights of workers and it should be a joint task of the parties to the labor market to ensure them,” the VR resolution further states, which can be read in full here.
