The Workers’ Brass Band Invites Efling Members to a Spring Concert

The Workers’ Brass Band (Lúðrasveit verkalýðsins) will hold its annual spring concert on March 20th. The concert will take place in Flói at Harpa. Efling members are especially encouraged to attend and enjoy the performance, which this year will have a rock and pop theme. Admission is free, as always, and everyone is welcome.

The Workers’ Brass Band was founded on March 8, 1953, with the purpose of “promoting musical education among the working class, performing at outdoor meetings, protest marches, and other public gatherings,” as stated in the band’s bylaws. Throughout its history, the band has been closely connected to the labor movement in Reykjavík. Efling has been one of the band’s supporters for many years. In return, the band has frequently performed at Efling events, including celebrations on May 1st, International Workers’ Day.

The concert program will feature a wide range of music, including medleys of well-known bands and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Elvis Presley. The band will be conducted by Karen Sturlaugsdóttir.
