New Special Collective Agreement Signed for Dock Workers at Eimskip

The Efling Union negotiating committee and representatives of Eimskip signed a special collective agreement on 21 May for dock workers employed by the company. This agreement follows a special collective agreement for drivers at Eimskip, which was signed at the end of last month.

Work on the list of demands began late last year with the involvement of union representatives and other Efling members among drivers and dock workers at Eimskip. Negotiations had been ongoing for quite some time, but have now yielded results.

There are several similarities between the two agreements. For example, the dock workers’ agreement includes a priority clause that also applies to overtime work, just as in the drivers’ agreement. It was also agreed that employees will be provided with safety shoes and other necessary protective gear free of charge, where required for safety reasons.

All employees will move up two pay grades under the new agreement. Location-based supplements, which had not increased since 2022, will rise by just over 25% retroactive to 1 February 2024, and by a further 3.5% retroactive to 1 January 2025.
