
Efling begins the autumn season with a strong program of diverse and valuable courses and events, available exclusively to union members. The courses are free of charge, and the union strongly encourages members to take advantage of them and register. They will be available in Icelandic, English, and Polish. The course topics are diverse, ranging from general education about workers’ rights to specialized training that enhances skills in specific professions. Note: some of the courses may lead to a pay raise within your field of work. Below is an overview of the Efling Education Program 2025-2026.
THE SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PORTAL:
The social assistance portal is meant for care workers, for instance in senior homes, in home services or in home help. The program ends with graduation as a Social Assistant (félagsliði). The Efling vocational funds pay the tuition in full for members who work for the public sector employers. Deadline for applications: August 21.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING:
Efling offers vocational training for staff in the labor market in cooperation with certified educational institutions. Completion of these courses can grant wage category increases according to the relevant wage agreements.

Care Workers
Preschool
The vocational courses place emphasis both on subjects that strengthen personal and general skills – such as self-empowerment and communication, study techniques, skills portfolios, and computer skills – as well as subjects like early childhood education, child development, creative activities with children, preschool curricula, multicultural preschools, and more.The course begins in May, with exact dates to be announced later.

RIGHTS:
Efling offers its members various courses on their rights and other practical information for working people. The rights courses are held at Efling’s community center on the 4th floor at Guðrúnartún 1, 105 Reykjavík, and are free of charge for members.
