The Food and Culture Festival 2025 took place at Iðnó on Sunday, September 21, and was a great success. Efling members offered food from more than 20 countries, filling the venue with delicious aromas, atmosphere, and joy.
Guests had the chance to taste a wide variety of dishes from all around the world – everything from a whole roasted pig prepared in the Filipino style to a traditional Iranian grandmother’s dessert, and an Icelandic layered sandwich cake (brauðterta). The festival also featured a diverse program where Efling members and their families performed. There was live music, singing, and dancing. Food and Culture was truly a genuine celebration of diversity, friendship, and solidarity.
“Food and Culture 2025 was a wonderful success! The food was amazing and we had a huge turnout of Efling members and guests. The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was in great spirits,” said Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chairman of Efling union, after the festival.
This was the third time Efling hosted this popular event, which has now firmly established itself as an annual celebration for members and their families. The house was packed, with more people wanting to attend than could fit – despite the move to Iðnó, which allowed the festival to grow considerably compared to previous years. Smiles lit up every face and Efling members and their families departed the festival well-fed and in high spirits
