Voting on the state mediator’s proposal to resolve the wage dispute between Efling and the Association of Welfare Service Companies (SFV) began at noon today, 29 October, and will remain open until noon on Thursday, 6 November.
The dispute has centred on SFV’s fulfilment of provisions in the current agreement over the past months. Efling announced its termination of the agreement last February, citing breaches of the agreement’s preconditions. Last week, the state mediator presented an internal proposal to resolve the dispute, which Efling’s negotiating committee approved on 24 October.
According to the proposal, the collective agreement itself will remain in force until 31 March 2028. However, certain amendments will be made, including base pay increases for nursing home workers ranging from ISK 7,500 to 20,300, depending on job role, seniority, education, and responsibility. The pay increases will take effect retroactively from 1 July and will be paid out with December wages.
The job titles team leader, foreman, group leader, and shift leader will become part of institutional agreements. The availability of professional courses will increase, and a job evaluation process will begin.
An information meeting on the proposal will be held on Thursday, 30 October at 17:00 in Efling’s Union Hall, Guðrúnartún 1, 4th floor. Doors open at 16:30 and light refreshments will be provided. The meeting will be conducted in Icelandic and English. Efling members working in nursing homes are encouraged to attend and register for the meeting on Efling’s Member Pages.
