Resolution of the Board of Efling Union

The Executive Board of Efling strongly condemns the military actions of the United States against Venezuela and the kidnapping of the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The actions of the United States constitute a clear violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. They are yet another confirmation of the extremely dangerous aggressiveness of imperialism, an aggressiveness that the United States has been allowed to get away with for decades, without any serious attempt being made to stop its conduct. The consequence is that the US government now believes it can do whatever it wants, no matter how immoral or criminal it may be towards innocent civilians around the world.

Lawlessness and disorder in international politics cannot be tolerated. The illegal actions of the United States must be met with international resistance and opposition. The Executive Board of Efling protests against the violence and arrogance of the imperialist powers and demands that the Icelandic authorities work for peaceful and diplomatic solutions on the international stage.
