The first Efling Congress was held on 26–27 February. It is fair to say that the Congress was an outstanding success. Around 200 active Efling members gathered at Austurbæjarbíó to shape the union’s policy and discuss key issues affecting working people.
A wide range of policy work took place, with delegates working together in groups, exchanging views, and putting forward proposals for priorities in the coming term. The outcome included four focused resolutions on home ownership, rental housing, wage theft, collective agreement violations, and the empowerment of workers in the workplace.
Delegates also worked together in so-called occupational groups, where they discussed shared issues based on their respective fields of work and exchanged experiences. This work was an important part of ensuring that the concerns of different sectors within the union were clearly heard.

Guest speakers, both international and domestic, addressed the congress and contributed to the discussions. Their contributions drew attention and sparked further debate among participants.
The accompanying photos from the congress offer a glimpse into the atmosphere, from policy discussions and occupational group work to guest speeches.
