Application and allocation of summer houses

The summerhouses are very popular during the winter, especially houses that are a short distance from the capital area. It is usually fully booked on weekends approx. one month in advance, so it is necessary to book in time to get accommodation at a time that suits you. The winter season is from August 30th 2024 to May 30th 2025. Then you can book both weekend and weekly rent. However, only weekly rentals are available during the holidays, i.e. Christmas and New Year, and then Easter. Christmas and the new year weeks this year are on 20.12- 27.12.2024 and 27.12.2024 – 03.01.2025. Bookings for Christmas and New Year start on September 13th at 9:00 am. It is only available to choose either Christmas or New Year’s week.

Attention Rule change

Points will be deducted from all rentals starting November 1^st 2023

Member also needs to have enough points in their account to be able to rent.

A member cannot rent a house with minus points.

The easter period 2024 is from 27. March – 3. April, only weekly rentals are possible, from Wednesday to Wednesday.

Allocation period for summer houses this easter starts 15. January and ends 29. January, application will be open at the booking web at this period. The day of application does not matter, as the allocations will be decided basing on the points system. The applications are evaluated using a special system of points which is based on how long the member has been paying dues in the union. Allocation is February 5, members will receive an email, and payment deadline is February 20th. The day after, February 21st at 9.00 am the booking web is open for all members, irrespective of point status, for the houses still available this easter.

The summer period 2024 is from 31 May to 30 August, only weekly rentals are possible, from Friday to Friday.

The day of application does not matter, as the allocations will be decided basing on the points system. The applications are evaluated using a special system of points which is based on how long the member has been paying dues in the union. Members will receive an email. After the application period has ended, the union members can book the houses which are still available at the booking web in two steps.

First for members with 100 points or more.

A week later booking web is open for all members, irrespective of point status, for the houses still available this summer.

Note that when applying for an allocation on the booking website at My pages, select “orlofshús” and then “umsókn”. When a summer home is booked after the allocation is completed,  then select “laus hús”, book and complete the payment immediately.
