Efling – Union’s Negotiating Committee to Samband íslenskra sveitarfélaga (Icelandic Association of Local Authorities)Proposal for Work StoppageA meeting of Efling – Union’s Negotiating Committee to Samband íslenskra sveitarfélaga, held on 21 February 2020 at 14.00, in the State Conciliation and Mediation Office in Borgartún 21, Reykjavík, agrees to call a vote on calling a work stoppage, pursuant to Article 15 of Act No. 80/1938 on Trade Unions and Industrial Disputes.Negotiations on the demands put forward by Efling – Union in relation to the renewal of the Union’s collective agreement with Samband íslenskra sveitarfélaga, on behalf of Efling members, have proved unfruitful despite the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer’s efforts. In a meeting in the State Conciliation and Mediation Office on 21 February 2020, the Union declared the negotiations to be unfruitful.The work stoppage will apply to Efling members working for the municipalities of Kópavogur, Seltjarnarnes, Mosfellsbær, Hveragerði and Ölfus, under the collective agreement between Samband íslenskra sveitarfélaga and Efling – Union, which expired on 31 March 2019. The work stoppage applies to all jobs covered by the aforementioned agreement.The work stoppage will be realised in the following manner: Members will discontinue their work for an indefinite period, starting from noon (12:00) on Monday, 9 March 2020.
