Ballot on the Call to Work Stoppage

The election committee of Efling – Union hereby advertises a general secret electronic ballot on the calling of a work stoppage in the worksites of the companies Íslandshótel hf. and Fosshótel Reykjavík ehf. Ballots are cast by those Efling members who are affected by this call.

The proposed work stoppage will be indefinite and begin at 12 o’clock noon on February 7 2023. The work stoppage will involve all jobs covered by the collective agreement of Efling and SA about work in restaurants and hotels, in the following worksites:

  • Hotel Reykjavík Grand………… Sigtún 28, 105 Reykjavík
  • Hotel Reykjavík Saga…………… Lækjargata 12, 101 Reykjavík
  • Hotel Reykjavík Centrum…….. Aðalstræti 16, 101 Reykjavík
  • Fosshotel Baron…………………… Barónsstígur 2-4, 101 Reykjavík
  • Fosshotel Lind…………………….. Rauðarárstígur 18, 105 Reykjavík
  • Fosshotel Rauðará……………….. Rauðarárstígur 37, 105 Reykjavík

The ballot shall end at 8 pm on January 30 2023. The ballot begins 12 o’clock noon on Tuesday January 24 2023.

A link to get access to the electronic ballot is here above (it will be active from 12 o’clock noon on January 24 2023). In addition, all Efling members on the electoral register who have registered their email address with the union will get the link sent to them via email. To cast a ballot an electronic ID is required.

Efling members who are not on the electoral register but think that they should be eligible to vote should contact the election committee and ask to be added to the electoral register. The email to the electoral committee should include a payslip or employment contract. The email and its accompanying documents will be treated confidentially and it should be sent to the email address felagsmal@efling.is.

Efling members who are not able to participate in the electronic ballot can cast their ballot in absentia with a paper ballot in the Efling office during its opening hours. Those who wish to do this need to bring a valid ID, such as a drivers license, passport or an ID issued by Registers Iceland (Þjóðskrá).
