Efling Union calls for a general membership vote on the union’s resignation from the Federation of General and Special Workers in Iceland (SGS – Starfsgreinasamband Íslands). By resigning from SGS, Efling will gain direct membership of the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ – Alþýðusamband Íslands) without the intermediary of a national federation.
The vote is called with the approval of the board, the delegate council, and a membership meeting held on April 24.
The vote opens on Thursday May 4, 2023 at 3 pm and closes on Thursday May 11 at 3 pm.
The voting is electronic and requires electronic ID. The voting is accessed by clicking on the link here: https://kjosa.vottun.is/home/vote/434?lang=EN
Voting can also be done on paper by coming to the Efling office during opening hours. To vote in person it is necessary to bring a legal form of identification.
To vote for Efling’s resignation from SGS, voters choose “Yes” on the ballot. To vote against resignation, voters choose “No.”
The voting registry includes all full members, which are those who have paid dues to the union for the last 3 months and have requested full membership via “My Pages” on the Efling webpage.
Individuals who are not on the voting registry, but who believe they should be, must send supporting documents to the email address felagsmal@efling.is and the election committee will make its decision as soon as possible about whether they will be added to the registry.
