As announced yesterday, February 27, 2025, the Efling Union’s negotiation committee decided to terminate the collective agreement covering members working in nursing homes. The Federation of Welfare Service Providers (SFV) was formally notified of this decision at a meeting held yesterday at the office of the State Mediator.
At the meeting, the Efling negotiation committee outlined the reasons for the termination. The termination was made with reference to a contingency clause in the collective agreement, which required a concrete and time-bound plan to meet the established staffing standards in nursing homes. The working group responsible for preparing this plan failed to deliver it and only submitted a memorandum on February 18 this year.
During the meeting, the Efling negotiation committee provided a detailed overview of the issue’s background, timeline, and outcome. This overview is presented in the attached slides, which were shared with SFV representatives yesterday. The slides are available in both Icelandic and English. They are published here so that Efling members, as well as others, can familiarize themselves with the reasons behind the negotiation committee’s decision to terminate the agreement.
