Resolution of the Joint Member and Delegation Council meeting of Efling
Efling Union calls on the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprises (Samtök atvinnulífsins) to honor existing collective agreements. This includes ensuring that the agreed share of cleaning workers in the estimated overall wage agreement scope is upheld.
It also means that employees’ wages must not be reduced by eliminating payments for time-based piecework without changes to work schedules.
Finally, the union demands that employers in the cleaning sector cease violations of collective agreements and work practices that result in workers being subjected to excessive work speed and pressure.
Efling union also calls on the Government of Iceland to fulfill its commitments to improving working conditions and ensuring compliance with collective agreements in the sector, particularly in cases involving public outsourcing.
Efling and the Federation of General and Special Workers in Iceland (Starfsgreinasambandið) have presented well-founded proposals to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor. Efling urges that work on implementing these improvements begin without delay.
