Starfsafl education grants increased

Education grants from Starfsafl for individuals were increased at the turn of the year. The increase applies to invoices issued after 1 January 2026.

As of 1 January 2026, updated rules on individual grants take effect as follows:

  • The maximum grant for general education and life skills courses increases from ISK 130,000 to ISK 180,000.
  • Members who have not used their entitlement for two years may receive grants of up to ISK 360,000.
  • Members who have not used their entitlement for three years may receive grants of up to ISK 540,000.

This accumulated entitlement applies to one continuous programme of study or course, in accordance with the fund’s detailed rules.

Starfsafl is the vocational education and training fund of Efling – The Union, the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise, Verkalýðsfélagið Hlíf, and the Keflavík and Surroundings General Workers’ and Seamen’s Union.
