Headmasters in Reykjavík kindergartens have declared their support for the actions and demands of Efling staff in the city’s kindergartens. They say that rapid rotation of staff can in large part be traced to the low-wage policies of Reykjavík city and the work environment which staff and children have to suffer. The parents’ council of Brákarborg has also declared its support for the kindergarten’s staff and urges the city and Efling to quickly reach an agreement.A petition has also been making the rounds with the headline: Strike a deal with kindergarten staff now. The petition says: We, the parents and families of kindergarteners, demand that the staff receive decent wages. These are the people who care for our children 8-9 hours a day and get wages they can’t live on.
