There seems to be ample reason for Icelandic Federation of Labor (Alþýðusamband Íslands) to note that wage earners who are placed in quarantine or are advised by a medical professional to stay at home and avoid being around coworkers or other people in the vicinity – because they are either infected with COVID-19 or may be a carrier of the virus – are in the opinion of ASÍ either incapable of work by reason of illness or by reason of being in danger of catching it. In the case of those absences from work, payment obligation applies, in accordance with the stipulations of collective agreements and the law.The central board of ASÍ will cover the recent developments and their reactions to them during their meeting next Wednesday.
